Good or Evil

From Passover to Shavuot, Hashem is teaching me. One can learn slowly because learning takes time. You can get out of the evil that you do in an instant. Yet unfortunately, the world works the opposite way, when evil stands in front of us, the world thinks you cannot change the world in an instant. So, if today we kill six million people, then tomorrow, we will only kill five million until we stop killing.

On the other hand, the world expects you to learn everything instantly. To educate children instantly. The world has gotten it all wrong. When it is about evil, you must stop evil or self-destructive behavior instantly. Only then, there is time to learn what is good and how to bring it about in the world. That is the reason G-d redeemed us out of Egypt on Passover instantly. Only then comes the gradual learning and personal work which comes with the Counting of the Omer from Pesach (Passover) until Shavuot.

The symbol we use to understand the energy of Pesach is the Almighty Hand of G-d. That Almighty Hand symbolizes G-d’s intervention in our spiritual redemption. Then comes the Counting of the Omer, during which we learn how to make that spiritual power useful in our lives. We are learning how to prepare ourselves to receive the Torah at Mt. Sinai. We are learning how to acquire holiness and we are climbing up the mountain of holiness. That is the essence of the work of counting.
